What is a Cricut?
A Cricut is a cutting machine that can cut many different materials and it allows you to take your crafting to a whole different level. You can make so many different things with your Cricut. Some of the most popular things are tshirts and decals but that’s just the top of the iceberg.
There are two brand new Cricut machines out right now the Cricut Maker 3 and Cricut Explore 3. Both are good machines but here is a comparison of both if you are not sure which is right for you.
The best products to get started with your Cricut machine
Cricut Tool Set
This is the exact tool set I bought when I got my Cricut. I use these tools every time I use my Cricut machine. I believe these tools are a must have for any Cricut crafter.
Cricut Mats
Cricut mats are an important product too. With the new Cricut machines you don’t have to use a mat if you are cutting the Smart Materials that Cricut has put out. But if you are using the older Cricut Maker or Cricut Explore Air 2 you will need a mat to do every project. You still need them even if you do have a newer machine for materials that are not the Smart Cut materials.
My mats get messed up pretty quickly with hair and dirt so I’m always needing new mats. You can make your mats last longer by keeping the clear plastic cover over the mats when not in use.
Transfer Tape
Transfer tape is essential for working with adhesive vinyl. You use it to transfer your design from the adhesive backing onto your project.
You can use your pieces of transfer tape several times to save money.
Cricut Easypress 2
The Cricut Easypress 2 is not essential because you could just use a regular iron but if you are wanting to do t-shirts or other work with Heat Transfer Vinyl (HTV) then I would highly recommend getting one. It makes heating up your design so much easier because it covers more surface area at one time and you can control the amount of heat better with the Easypress than you can with just a regular iron.
Cricut Easypress Mat
This mat should be used under your project when using the Easypress 2 to heat up your heat transfer vinyl (HTV). Once again this is not essential, you could just use a folded up towel underneath your project but the Easypress Mat is very helpful and I wouldn’t use my Easypress without it.
